Las zanahorias son buenas para la vista: un mito



Es verdad que Bugs Bunny nunca ha usado gafas, pero su gran capacidad visual no tiene nada que ver con su comida favorita. Si bien es cierto que la zanahoria es un alimento muy sano, rico en fibra y vitamina A, comerlas no mejorará tu capacidad visual. El mito fue iniciado por la Fuerza Aérea Británica durante la II Guerra Mundial al explicar la sorprendente capacidad de sus pilotos para localizar bombarderos enemigos a gran distancia y en la oscuridad. En realidad no fueron las zanahorias sino el primer radar lo que les dio esa "supervisión" a los pilotos.

Conclusión: Si tu cuerpo no obtiene suficiente vitamina A, es probable que tu visión se vea afectada negativamente. Pero debido a que la vitamina A se almacena en el cuerpo, tendrías que estar bajo un regimen de hambruna total durante mucho tiempo antes de quedarte corto en vitamina A.

Como a mis hijos no les gusta la zanahoria y me cuesta mucho que se la coman, yo siempre les digo que es muy buena para la vista, que es lo mismo que me decían mis abuelas. Si así se la comen......
